Professional directories are a mixed blessing. On the one hand, if you work primarily with individuals, chances are slim that prospective clients will have access to one and use it to find you. On the other, if you rely on referrals from other attorneys, work primarily with in-house counsel or large clients with access to the directories, it’s an excellent way to reach them.
It really comes back the question: What is your target audience and what is the best way to reach it? Don’t expect a directory listing – or any other medium – to do something it’s not designed to do.
